Iceland:- English version

The Icelandic song to be performed by Eirkíkur Hauksson will be performed in English in Helsinki and will go under the title of Valentine Lost.

Personally I'm not surprised this munter lost his valentine... I'm aghast he even had one to begin with, but there ya go, proof that there's someone out there for all of us!

Follow the link if you dare....

Reading palms in Iceland

The Icelandic national final took place in Reykjavík on Saturday night and if the Finns got it so right, the Icelandics couldn't have got it so wrong.

This was one of the strongest Icelandic national finals since the dawn of time and they ended up plumping for some aging rocker, with a weak voice and a dull uninspiring rock song. I really don't get what Iceland see in this that they think will bring them success in May... maybe I'm missing something, but I think the dark nights have finally got to them!

Iceland:- Semi-final 3

The last of the Icelandic semi-finals was held in Reykjavík on Saturday night. The top three songs that progress to the national final on 17 February are below.

Ragnheiður Eiriksdóttir - Ég Og Heilinn Minn

She seems to be having a good laugh. I imagine this'll sound much better in English.

Hafsteinn Þórólfsson - Þú Tryllir Mig

Oh God this is fantastic! It's so effortlessly camp it's just amazing.

Andri Bergmann - Bjarta Brosið

Cute blonde boy sings a dull schlager pop song.

Iceland:- Semi-final 2

Iceland continued their song search last Saturday night in Reykjavík. Three acts out of the eight on offer were voted into the national final. The vids are below.

Friðrik Ómar - Eldur

Right then, your man's got a good voice, but the song's a little dull and predictable. Not sure why there's 2 blokes banging bottles of Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male, but anyway!

Eiríkur Hauksson - Ég Les Í Lófa Þínum

Old-time rocker tries to recapture his youth!

Jón Jósep Snæbjörnsson - Segðu Mér

Jónsi returns from his 2004 foray in Eurovision with a cracking song and performance... he's obviously learned from 2004 that you don't need to run about the stage like a mad man to get your point across! Save anything spectacular happening in the last semi next week, this should (in theory) be the song that represents Iceland in Helsinki. Oh and I love his arms n all!!!
